About the programme

On the Master's program, you will acquire specialized knowledge, skills and competencies to enable you to perform as a musician at the highest level.

Throughout your studies, you will develop the ability to make independent choices based on an approach where artistic expression and creativity go hand in hand with a solid foundation in craftsmanship. The program is characterized by a strong focus on creating music, where both composition and improvisation are paramount across subjects and projects. Here you will have ample opportunity to immerse yourself in a wide range of rhythmic genres and potentially everything in between - including jazz in all its forms, pop, rock, free improvisation, singer/songwriter, Afro-Cuban, Indian, third stream and fusion... or maybe something completely different, based on a suggestion from you as a student.

In addition to the scheduled classes, the program offers interdisciplinary project-oriented focus weeks, master classes, themed weeks, artist talks, entrepreneurship days, projects and a wealth of concerts. Your student life will take place in a local and welcoming student environment where there is room for you and where you will be in demand. The vast majority of students live here, practice here and play here in a myriad of constellations, which creates a special culture for both personal and joint initiative and project creation.

In addition to focusing on main instrument teaching and ensemble playing, the master's program also focuses on instrumental pedagogy with independent teaching in ensemble management, pedagogy and psychology.
