PART 1 (digital):

CONCERT:

As part of the the application form, the applicant submits a video recording of two songs of their own choice with their own group (min. 2 players).

Video material:
The video must clearly show that it is the applicant who is performing and you must be able to see the applicant playing/singing. The applicant is responsible for ensuring satisfactory sound and image quality.

Up to 2 videos with a total duration of max. 10 minutes can be uploaded.
File format: MP4 (max 1 GB per video).

Videos must be unedited.

Assessment

The video is assessed by 1 external examiner, 1 internal examiner and 1 internal head examiner.

One grade is given according to the 7-point grading scale. No further feedback is offered on the video.

Among the applicants who pass the 1st round tests, the applicants who proceed to the 2nd round are selected. All applicants will receive an answer to the test in late December.

PART 2 (physical attendance):

Ensemble playing:

The applicant is part of an assigned group of musicians with whom the applicant participates in the rehearsal of 2 songs.

The test also includes:

  • melodic imitation
  • ear training/improvisation
  • sight reading

Duration: Max. 25 min. incl. assessment

Assessed by 2 internal examiners.

Grades are given according to the 7-point scale in each discipline.


Test in ear training/piano/singing

The exam includes:

  • oral ear training, including notation skills 
  • rhythmic imitation 
  • secunda vista piano (preparation time: 30 min.) 
  • self-selected song for own accompaniment (piano, guitar or other chordal instrument) - duration 2 minutes 

Duration: Max. 30 min incl. assessment.

The exams are assessed by 2 internal examiners.

Grades are given according to the 7-point grading scale in each of the three disciplines: Ear training, piano and singing.


Theory exam:

A collective written test in theory and notation skills.

Duration: 45 minutes.

The exams are assessed by 1 internal external examiner.

One grade is given according to the 7-point grading scale.
